Delegation meets min, seeks relief for villagers
Jaipur: Cabinet minister Kirori Lal Meena, accompanied by a delegation of 11 members, met minister of state for home affairs Jawahar Singh Bedham on Friday to address rising tensions in Deoli-Uniara following the "slapgate" incident involving independent assembly bypoll candidate Naresh Meena. The discussions centred on justice for the affected villagers of Samraota and relief measures for those impacted by the violence on polling day, Nov 13.The delegation demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident to uncover the truth and ensure justice for all involved. They also called for the immediate release of individuals wrongfully arrested during the unrest. Highlighting the losses incurred by the villagers, the delegation submitted a letter urging the state govt to provide compensation to affected families.Another major demand was the administrative restructuring of the region, advocating for the inclusion of Samraota and Ranipura villages in the Uniara subdivision. The delegation also raised concerns about the delay in police action and allegations of partiality by certain officers, pressing for a judicial review of police conduct. They further requested the withdrawal of police forces from Samraota and neighbouring villages to restore peace and security, a step minister Bedham confirmed was already implemented. Bedham appealed to the residents of Samraota and Devli-Uniara to maintain peace and assured them of the govt's commitment to resolving their grievances. He stated that the issues raised would be escalated to the chief minister to ensure prompt action.
