Mathur Awards for Manav, Mukul, Parve

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s best cricketing talent were rewarded for their outstanding performances during the 30th Mathura Das Mathur Awards function here on Wednesday.Promising Rajasthan left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, wicketkeeper-batter Mukul Choudhary and talented all-rounder Parve Jhalani bagged the prestigious awards in the senior, junior and sub-junior category respectively. Shifan Khan was adjudged as the most promising cricketer for a sterling show last season.Seasoned left-arm pacer Aniket Choudhary received the Best Cricketer of the Decade award. Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) secretary Bhavani Samota and RSIC, Rajasthan chairman Rajiv Arora were the chief guests and distributed the awards. Rajasthan Blues Cricket Club president Vinod Mathur presided over the function.The 21-year-old Manav was consistent in all the domestic tournaments, but Ganganagar youngster’s best performance was in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 where he took 39 wickets in six games. Manav recently represented India A team and did quite well which included a three-wicket haul against Pakistan.Mukul, 19, made his presence felt in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and CK Nayudu Trophy, but it was Cooch Behar Trophy where he excelled the most with 750 runs in 7 matches.Parve, son of former Rajasthan Ranji Trophy stalwart Rohit Jhalani, scored 165 runs and claimed 12 wickets in five games in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. Tall and lanky 17-year-old Parve is a promising all-rounder in the making.The selection committee headed by former Ranji player Ved Ahuja chose the winners based on their performances during the previous domestic season. Other members of the selection committee were former captain Sanjay Vyas, Sharad Joshi, Vijender Yadav, Rohit Jhalani and Gaurav Sharma. tnn
