This came almost seven months after the family of the girl approached the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and narrated how the accused cheated them by showing a fake appointment letter.

The story of accused Amit Kumar Sharma is nothing less than a thrilling web series or a feature film.

“Sharma had some of his relatives in Alwar. Thus, they got acquainted with the family of the girl who was living near Ashok Talkies in Alwar. During the first meeting in 2018, the youth claimed that he was working in PMO. And later he had shown a fake appointment letter of NTPC thermal power project which he said was apparently signed by the PM. The girl’s family believed him and the marriage took place in 2018. After her family found it to be a fraud, the girl lodged a case under Section 498-A against the accused,” said Tejaswini Gautam, SP, Alwar on Sunday.

Gautam said that the accused in the appointment letter also claimed that he had been awarded Rs 10 lakh for good work.

After the fraud came to light, the family of the girl wrote to the PMO in this matter.

“On May 8, 2020, P K Issar, deputy director, PMO wrote to DGP of Rajasthan stating that the accused has used fake signature and thus created a fake appointment letter. Following the complaint, an investigation was done by CID-CB. After intense investigation, the CID-CB finally on December 10 asked us to arrest the accused,” said a senior police officer.

A team of Alwar police went to Maharashtra and arrested the accused.
