Jaipur: A 48-year-old man was found lying dead on a road and a 27-year-old man, who was lying injured a kilometre away on the same road, succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Vishwakarma Industrial (VKI) area in Jaipur Sunday.
VKI police station sub-inspector Raj Kumar said that Mool Chand
Meena (48) was found dead in Surya Nagar while
Manjesh (27) was found critically injured about one kilometre away.
He was rushed to Kanwatia Hospital, where he died, added Kumar.
ACP (Chomu) Rajendra Singh Nirwan said it is suspected that Manjesh and Meena had a scuffle late on Saturday night. “Manjesh had been undergoing treatment for some mental illness,” he said.
Police officials probing the twin deaths said it appeared that someone had murdered Meena, who had been living at his sister’s house in Rampura village for a long time, by hitting him with a heavy stone. “We are trying to ascertain what exactly happened. Manjesh had some internal injuries. He died at the hospital,” Nirwan said.
A team of senior police officials, including DCP (West) Vandita Rana, arrived on the road and examined the two spots. Rana said Manjesh had some injuries on his body, but a detailed post-mortem report was awaited. “A preliminary probe shows the two men had had a scuffle. We are investigating the case from all probable angles,” she added.
A few people were being interrogated by the police teams to verify if some third person was also involved. Police said the two bodies, kept in the mortuary, would be handed over to the families after autopsy.
“Since Manjesh was found injured about one kilometre away from where Meena’s body was recovered, it is too early to conclude what happened to Manjesh,” said an official.
