JAIPUR: The city police arrested a 70-year-old man after a 25-year-old woman from Thailand alleged that she was molested during Holi festivities on March 7 in Khasa Kothi under the Vidhayakpuri police station area.
Vidhayakpuri police station house officer (SHO) Rajesh Gautam said that police filed an FIR in the case and arrested the accused identified as Govardhan.
As per sources, the woman had come to Jaipur with a group of other tourists. She was going to attend a Holi party on March 7 when she and other tourists stopped for a moment at Khasa Kothi to see Holi festivities there.
As per the complainant, one accused touched her inappropriately outside a parking lot. She immediately sought the police’s help.
“She alleged that a man harassed her and gave us a complaint about the same. We registered an FIR under IPC Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty),” said an official.
As per officials, the woman alleged that the accused was arrested immediately after the FIR was registered. “Further investigation is underway into the case,” the official added.
Police said that the woman also alleged that the accused harassed her on the pretext of putting Holi colours on her.
