Local residents protest mining near Kanha Hill
Jhunjhunu: Local residents under the leadership of former minister Rajendra Gudha staged a protest against resumption of mining activities at Kanha Hill in Jhunjhunu.
Gudha said that people are living in fear due to blasting for mining near the populated area. The blasting caused cracks in houses. When there was opposition earlier, the administration assured to stop the blasting. However, once again, mining is being conducted with blasting near the populated area, he said.
The police tried to prevent the setting up of tents, but under the leadership Gudha, people set up tents and sat on the sit-in. Gudha accused that during the recent incident of a youth's body found at the foothills of Kanha Hill, the youth died due to being hit by a stone during blasting. He demanded an investigation into the youth's death and stated that in the past years, eight people died in water-filled large pits in mining area.tnn
