Jaipur: A decoy operation started by the vigilance wing of Rajasthan Police in 11 districts has found that the ban on sale and purchase of liquor after 8pm is not being complied with in 17 police station areas. A departmental enquiry has been ordered against the SHOs of these police stations, said officials.
CM Ashok Gehlot had asked police to ensure no sale and purchase of liquor is done after 8pm. The vigilance team had made surprise checks in districts such as Jaipur (South), Dungarpur, Udaipur, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Sirohi, Pali, Jodhpur (East), Churu and Chittorgarh.
Except for Chittorgarh district, liquor sale after 8pm was found continuing in areas under the police stations of Mansarover (Jaipur South), Bichiwada (Dungarpur), Sagwada (Dungarpur), Hiran Magari (Udaipur), Hanmangarh town (Hanumangarh), Kotgate (Bikaner), Nokha (Bikaner), Shivganj (Sirohi) and Kotwali (Sirohi), Bar (Pali) and Jaitaran (Pali), Ratanada (Jodhpur East), Pratap Nagar (Jodhpur West), Pratap Nagar (Jodhpur West), Kotwali (Churu) and Sujangarh (Churu), said officials.
“We also found liquor being sold at higher prices than their fixed prices in several places,” said an official of the vigilance wing. Senior police officers said the decoy operations to detect sale and purchase of liquor after 8pm would continue. “We will ensure the sale and purchase of liquor is not done after 8pm,” said a senior official.
