JAIPUR: Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena on Wednesday termed CM Ashok Gehlot's clarifications about fulfilling all demands of Pulwama martyrs' widows a "gimmick" to mislead people supporting the cause.

While staging a sit-in outside the residence of Congress MLA Sachin Pilot, Meena reminded Gehlot of the statements made by two ministers of the state cabinet, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and Shakuntala Rawat, about fulfilling the widows' demands.

"Is it not ironic that both the ministers came to meet the protesting widows, justified their demands, and assured of fulfilling them? I was expecting that the government would announce the acceptance of the demands, but in the meantime CM Gehlot released a statement rejecting the demands. For Congress, the situation is akin to spitting and licking as the ministers' assurances about the demands being met were rejected by CM Gehlot," said Meena.

In a series of tweets, the Rajya Sabha member asked why the two ministers came to hold talks with the protesting widows. "Instead of making unnecessary statements, he (Gehlot) should have met the women once. Ignoring the martyrs does not suit the head of the government," said Meena.

In a video message, martyr Rohitashv Lamba's widow Manju Jat, who has been sitting on a fast, said, "I am hurt by the government's neglect and dictatorship."
