Karni Sena threatens to cut Rajasthan minister’s nose for ‘rat’ remark
JAIPUR: The Shree Rajput Karni Sena on Tuesday threatened to chop off cabinet minister Kiran Maheshwari’s
At a press conference held at the
Maheshwari had reportedly said that as the assembly elections were drawing nearer, the ‘rats’ were coming out of their holes.
“This sentence was for the Congress not for the Rajput community. A reporter had asked me a question on protests by the Congress. Replying to that question, I had said it about the Congress as the opposition party was silent for five years but now when the elections were round the corner, it was protesting against the government,” Maheshwari told TOI.
Makrana issued a threat to Maheshwari at the press conference and said, “If the minister thinks the Rajput are ‘rats’, it will not be good for her nose and ears. It is a direct challenge to Shree Rajput Karni Sena. She has probably forgotten the Deepika Padukone incident (Padmaavat controversy).”
The Karni Sena president said that the Rajput community had extended support to the state BJP in past assembly elections. “The community that brought BJP to such a position in the state is being equated with rats. The minister should apologise to the community with immediate effect,” said Makrana, adding that the Karni Seni will protest against the minister until she takes back her words.
The Rajput community, under the banner of Sarv-Rajput Samaj Sangharsh Samiti (SRSSS) Rajasthan, recently launched a campaign “Kamal Ka Phool, Hamari Bhool” against the state BJP government. The SRSSS has threatened to intensify its protest against the state BJP government.
The SRSSS state coordinator Girraj Singh Lotwada said the state BJP government was spreading anarchy to regain power but the people of the state and the SRSSS will not allow it to do so. Lotwada said that in the Anandpal encounter case, the Sangharsh Samiti and the state government had reached an agreement but the government did not follow the agreement, creating unrest among the community.
