AJMER: Minister for tourism, women & child development Bina Kak on Thursday expressed her displeasure over the function organized to launch Hepatitis-B vaccination programme of the state government. She expressed her annoyance over not finding people at the function for whom the scheme is launched. “Mere presence of some administrative and health officials do not make the scheme a success.
People from rural areas, social activists and NGOs working in vaccination and other health sector issues should have been invited,” she said.
She directed the officials to do everything to make the people aware of the scheme. Talking to media persons, she said that Ajmer has a high potential tourist destination. We have planned some schemes to enhance tourism in the district. My ministry has allocated a special budget of Rs 10 crore for beautification of Dargah and Pushkar area, she said. To provide something more to tourists, soon a sound and light show will be started at Akbar Fort most likely before the onset of 800th Urs Garib Nawaz, for which a budget of Rs 1.8 crore has been sanctioned,” said Kak. Oscar award winner Bollywood music director A R Rehman has agreed to give his expertise in making the show, he will perform on the inaugural show, she added.
Meanwhile, inservice doctors association gave a memorandum to Bina Kak demanding government to implement their long standing nine-point demand charter, an understanding on which was reached between them (the association) and government on July 12, 2011.
The association said that if the government failed to meet their demands by December 20 they will go on indefinite strike after December 21. “Four months have passed since the government promised us to look into our demands, said Dr Rajesh Tekchandani, convener Inservice Doctors Association.
