Justice Vyas chairman of Rajasthan human rights panel

JAIPUR: Former Rajasthan high court judge Justice G K Vyas was on Friday appointed to the post of the

chairman

of the

State Human Rights Commission

.

Kalraj Mishra

issued his appointment order, said an official release

Along with the chairman's appointment, former

IPS

officer Mahesh Goyal has been appointed as a member of the commission.

With these appointments, the strength of the commission has got the full quorum. Justice Mahesh

Chandra Sharma

, the only member of the commission, has been officiating as the acting chairman of the commission.

The post of chairperson of the commission fell vacant after Justice Prakash Tatia resigned from the post in November 2019.

The chief minister and the opposition leader met the other day and sent recommendation to the governor on the names of Justice Vyas and Mahesh Goyal.

The state government has been facing flak from the human rights activists over the delay in the appointments to various statutory commissions.
