has decided to open 20 more
Indira Rasoi
canteens here to provide people clean and affordable food.
Ten Indira Rasois are already functioning in front of hospitals, markets and bus stops and four extension counters were also opened recently in In JMC-Greater areas.
JMC-Greater commissioner
Mahendra Soni said, “For the public, it is important to have such affordable canteens so that people can eat without pinching their pockets. We have identified 10 places already where these rasois will be opened. For more 10 places, the process is going on.”
Once permission from the collectorate is received by June 25, the rasois will start functioning in the city. It will cost around Rs 5 lakh per rasoi including furniture and infrastructure. The yearly maintenance cost of each rasoi will be around Rs 3 lakh. The corporation is providing per thali for Rs 8 for which Rs 17 is provided by the government to cover the remaining costs.
Indira Rasoi is being operated on a ‘no loss-no profit’ basis by more than 300 sevabhavi/NGOs in the state. Due to increased prices of food items and
LPG
, the kitchen operators had been facing difficulties.
