Japanese rape survivor's statement recorded in court

A 20-year-old Japanese tourist, who was allegedly raped on February 8 night in state capital, recorded her statements before the court on Tuesday.

JAIPUR: A 20-year-old Japanese tourist, who was allegedly raped on February 8 night in state capital, recorded her statements before the court on Tuesday. The statements were recorded in-camera before the additional district judge, Jaipur city.
Accompanied by her family members and officials of Japanese embassy, the rape survivor reached the court premises and recorded her statements.

A Japanese interpreter was also brought for communication.
According to the police, she had checked in a guest house in Jalupura, a suburban locality in Jaipur on February 8. Later, when she was visiting Jal Mahal area, the accused, Ajit Chaudhary, introduced himself as a tourist guide. He befriended her as he spoke fluent English and offered her to take around the city on his motorcycle. "Both went around the city till 10 pm during which he took her to a woman's place, who he said was his sister for a cup of tea and later, to another one, introducing her as his aunt, for dinner. Later, on pretext of dropping her at the guest house, he drove her towards Dudu on Jaipur-Ajmer highway saying he was taking her from a different route and allegedly raped her," said a senior officer.
The accused managed to flee from the scene. However, the rape survivor managed to find some villagers who took her to the police station.
"We have already arrested the main accused and eight others who helped accused in providing him shelter and motorbikes," said a senior police officer.
Without wasting time, police had also taken the case under case officer's scheme to prioritize the investigations in the court. "We had also filed a detailed chargesheet in this connection in the court within 15 days on February 20," the officer added.
