JAIPUR: A special court in Jaipur on Wednesday convicted four accused and acquitted one in 2008 serial bomb blasts that had left 80 people dead and 176 injured.

The hearing on the quantum of sentences will be held on Thursday. The judgement is scheduled to be announced by the end of this week. The special public prosecutor Shri Chand said that four convicted persons are - Mohammad Saif, Mohammad Sarwar Azmi, Saifur Rahman and Salman.

All four have been convicted under multiple sections, including, murder, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and Explosives Substances Act

However, the court acquitted one of the accused Shahbaz Hussain, giving him the benefit of doubt. Hussain was arrested as he had sent an email from a cyber café in Sahibabad to claim the onus of the blast.

On May 13, 2008, Jaipur witnessed eight serial bomb blasts at different locations in the walled city.
