Massive road accident in Jaipur: At least 12 dead as speeding trailer truck ploughs into vehicles in Harmada

A devastating incident on Jaipur's Sikar Road saw an out-of-control dumper truck collide with numerous vehicles, resulting in at least 12 fatalities and multiple serious injuries. JAIPUR: At least 12 people died and many others suffered serious injuries after after an out-of-control dumper truck ploughed through nearly a dozen vehicles on the busy Sikar Road in Jaipur's Harmada area on Monday afternoon.As per media reports, the incident occurred around 1pm near the Lohamandi locality, when traffic was moving normally along the highway. The dumper, moving at high speed, suddenly lost control and began ramming into vehicles coming from the opposite direction.

As per news agency PTI, the dumper was empty and coming from Road No. 14 towards the Loha Mandi petrol pump when it began hitting vehicles one after another over a stretch of nearly 300 metres."The dumper hit several vehicles in a chain collision near Loha Mandi. Twelve people died in the accident and as many have been injured," Jaipur District collector Jitendra Soni told PTI.Panic and chaos gripped the area as people screamed for help amid mangled vehicles and debris scattered across the road. Local residents rushed to assist the injured before the arrival of emergency services.

Upon receiving the information, Harmada police and administrative officials reached the spot and launched rescue and relief operations.
Ambulances were deployed to transport the injured to nearby hospitals, where their treatment is ongoing.Police said efforts are underway to identify the victims and determine the exact cause of the dumper’s loss of control.Following the horrific crash, locals gathered at the accident site and launched a protest against the administration, demanding the immediate arrest of the errant truck driver. The demonstrators accused authorities of negligence and poor enforcement of traffic safety measures, blocking the road for some time.It was the second major road accident in the past 24 hours after 15 pilgrims died when the tempo traveller they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck near Matoda village on Sunday evening.
