Jaipur gets 120 mm rain, ongoing spell to continue till Sept 10
A rainfall of 120 mm was recorded in Jaipur till 8.30am. Also, moderate showers were witnessed at Dudu, Shahpura, Bassi, Tunga, and Bagru, mainly in the outskirts of Jaipur.
Jaipur was followed by Nasirabad (Ajmer), where a rainfall of 113mm was recorded, Thanagazi (Alwar) 77mm, Vijaynagar 71mm, Sajjangarh (Banswara) 47mm, Srinagar (Ajmer) 5mm, Kotkasim (Alwar) 45mm, and Bhinay (Ajmer) 37mm. Also, rainfall varying from 30mm to 10mm was recorded at several places in Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions of the state.
Director of Jaipur Met office, Radhey Shyam Sharma said, “The monsoon is not yet over as for the next one week moderate showers will continue at the majority of the places in the state. Some isolated places are likely to witness heavy showers.”
Rajasthan, so far, has received an average rainfall of 568mm till Monday against an average rainfall of 380.1mm recorded till Sept 2, 2023. Bisalpur dam saw a continuous elevation in its water level. “The water level of the dam has now reached a height of 314.62metre against the full height of 315.50metre,” said an officer from water resources department at the dam.
IMD issues heavy rainfall warning till Sunday
The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in central and north Kerala until Sunday. Alerts include orange for Kozhikode and Kannur on Saturday and yellow for various districts throughout the week. Squally weather with high winds is expected. Fishermen are advised to avoid the sea. INCOIS warns of high waves in Kannur and Kasaragod.
August logs 66% of average rainfall in Maharashtra; heavy rain unlikely till weekend
Mumbai experienced a mostly dry August but has still recorded 66% of the average monthly rainfall by the 27th. Heavy rainfall is not expected for the rest of the month. Seasonal rainfall excesses were noted at IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories. Water stock in the seven lakes stands at 94.87% of needed levels.
