Police probe into role of locals in illegal stay of Bangladeshi nationals
Jaipur: The city police launched an extensive investigation into a suspected syndicate believed to be facilitating the stay of Bangladeshi nationals in Jaipur by assisting them in obtaining Indian passports through forged documents.Over the past four days, police identified 13 foreign nationals residing in the city using fake documents. An official revealed that some of these individuals even managed to secure govt-allotted flats under various welfare schemes in the Jai Singh Pura area, raising further suspicions about the extent of local assistance involved."We have credible information suggesting that certain individuals were aiding these suspects in obtaining flats under rehabilitation schemes through document forgery, and a separate investigation is already underway to uncover those responsible," stated an official.A senior police official shared that on Monday, the police arrested Noju Fakir, a 45-year-old Bangladeshi national, who was residing in a JDA flat in Jaisinghpura under the jurisdiction of Bhankrota police station.Further investigation into Fakir's background revealed that he managed to acquire an Indian passport, which misleadingly listed his age as 18. The ongoing probe also disclosed the involvement of Sohag Khan, another Bangladeshi national previously arrested by the city police for illegally residing in India using forged documents. It was found that Khan allegedly assisted Fakir in obtaining his falsified identification.According to police sources, Sohag was actively engaged in assisting other Bangladeshi citizens in acquiring Indian identification documents for a fee. Interestingly, the police discovered that Sohag himself managed to secure a JDA flat in Jai Singh Pura, suggesting the likelihood of involvement from additional suspects who facilitated this process.
