JAIPUR: After a successful placement season for non-IT branches, now it's raining recruitment for IT students. Reportedly, for every student of Malaviya National Institute of Technology, who has appeared in the seventh semester, three premier companies are lined-up for hiring.
"Companies like
IBM,
HCL and Accenture have expressed their willingness to hire over 100 suitable students each from MNIT," said Rohir Goyal, placement officer, MNIT.
Notably, the IT companies, this year, have started visiting the campuses in December in line with the NASSCOM restriction on hiring professionals not before they appear in seventh semester. In the state, most colleges have completed seventh semester exams.
This institute has a strength of 120 students, of which some have already opted for self entrepreneurship, besides a few who have decided to go for higher studies. "It is next to impossible for us to fulfil the demand of these companies," he said. "In the history of our institute we haven't received such a good response from IT companies. It is most likely that many students would get more than one offer," he added.
BITS Pilani has a similar story to tell. The institute is chalking out a schedule for the IT companies that would visit the campus. "We have been approached by top-notch IT companies for mass recruitment," said Yash Gandhi, placement cell member, BITS Pilani.
With the recession fears taking a backseat, students from BITS and MNIT have received great offers from core companies. Eight students of BITS have been recruited on a package of Rs 40 lakh per annum, while nearly dozen students from MNIT have been hired on a package of 12 lakh per annum, which is much higher compared to previous years.
The colleges affiliated with the Rajasthan Technical University are also optimistic about attracting lucrative offers. Most of them are gearing up for the upcoming placement season by holding sessions on personality development and interview. "IT companies are mass recruiters. We are preparing our students to make the maximum of this opportunity," said Purshottam Sharma, spokesperson, Poornima Group of Colleges.
