AJMER: IPS officer Ajay Singh on Saturday was shifted to the Jaipur central jail in view of possible threats against his life at the Ajmer jail.
The court will hear Singh's bail application on Monday after his counsel demanded time to get a copy of the FIR registered against him.
"Several inmates at the jail had been interrogated by Singh in various cases of weapons' smuggling and drug peddling.
They could attack him inside the jail," said Rajesh Tandon, Singh's counsel.
Singh, who was sent to the Ajmer jail on Friday evening, had asked for security inside the jail. Sources said he was tensed and feared attacks on his life.
The state government on Saturday afternoon sent an order directing the jail authority to shift the officer to the Central Jail in Jaipur owing to security concerns.
"As soon as the orders reached here, Singh was taken to Jaipur in a special vehicle," said sources.
On Singh's bail plea, his counsel said, "We have not yet received a copy of the FIR. It was registered by the ACB at it's headquarter in Jaipur. The copy is being sent by post."
Meanwhile the ACB (anti-corruption bureau) is gearing up to register another case against Singh for disproportionate assets. "We have found eight passbooks in his Ajmer residence and also some property papers from his Jaipur residence. We are calculating the income of Singh as he was deputed as IPS on probation," said officials.
Sources, however, said that a lobby of top-ranking officials is trying to seek relief for the officer. They claimed that Singh's transfer to the Jaipur jail is also because of their influence.
Whereas sources claimed that, high officials and IPS lobby came forward in favor of Singh and they are creating pressure to skip Singh with minimum evidences and witnesses, "Singh was caught with two cartoons of liquor in Kanota village and a case has been registered against him in Kanota police station. It will be hard for him to have two cases at present" said source. There is a lobby in Jaipur that also meet chief minister Ashok Gahlot demanding relief to Singh" said source.
Sources also claimed that shifting Singh from Ajmer to Jaipur is the result of lobby pressure as state government, "Even in Bhawari Devi case where former minister demanded security and treatment inside the jail, the state government had not taken any suo motto decision where Maderna was also an accused" added soruce.
Meanwhile, ASI prem Singh left in Ajmer jail and Singh denied even knowing him that he was working in department, yesterday night before moving to jail, Singh said, "Who is Prem Singh, I do not know, I am clean and will come out clean."
