‘Indo-Pak relations will improve with Imran as Pak PM’
AJMER: Punjab minister of local government, tourism, cultural affairs and museums and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sindhu is hopeful that bilateral relations between India and Pakistan will improve now that his friend Imran Khan has become the PM of Pakistan. He was addressing a group of students in a school in Ajmer on Sunday in a programme organized by Youth Congress, ‘Soch ki Soch se Ladai’ (fight between ideas). Sidhu said, “Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee took the bus to Lahore and present Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Pakistan without invitation. It highlights the importance of dialogue.”
Answering the questions of students, Sindhu said that demonetisation is a failure of present government because it was not kept in view the benefit of common man. It was conspiracy to benefit few groups related to BJP government. “It has hindered the development and taken the economy backwards,” he added.
Sindhu said that such programmes like ‘Soch ki Soch se Ladai’ have been started throughout the country where politicians are answering the questions of youth and making them politically aware. Sidhu said, “This is the concept of Congress president Rahul Gandhi that youth will not go to politician to know about their policies and concept. instead politicians will go to the youth to speak their minds.”
On a question of who his favourite cricketer is, Sidhu said that Virat Kohli is his favourite because he never gives up even in tough conditions. The minister also said that Mahatma Gandhi influenced him, and his motto of life is that without hard work and dedication success cannot be achieved.
