Indian kings, if united, could have beaten Ghori: Raj Governor

Bhilwara: Governor Haribhau Bagde Thursday inaugurated a two-day national conference on "Indian knowledge traditions" in Shahpura. In his address he said that if Indian kings had united in medieval times, the Afghan invader Muhammad Ghori could have been defeated. "Now is the time for us to unite again and strengthen India," he said.
Bagde said India was a centre of knowledge and science since ancient times. He cited examples of the decimal system, Nalanda university, and ancient Indian educational centres.
Praising the New Education Policy, he said it would bring innovation and help make India a developed nation by the centenary year of independence (2045).
About 500 scholars and educators from across the country are participating in this conference organised with the support of National Teachers' Federation.
President of the federation, Prof N L Gupta, and the secretary, Prof Mahendra Kapoor, were present at the inauguration.
