Hubby quizzed in lawyer wife’s murder case

, the lawyer whose body was found inside her flat on 7th floor of an apartment, in

New Bhupalpura

area under Sukher police station a day ago.

K B Gupta, the victim’s husband is a final year student of law and was first to see the blood soaked body when he came back home after attending classes on Thursday morning. Ruchita’s head had been smashed against a wall. Her jaw was broken and she was stabbed 16 times all over the body, postmortem report said. The couple had had a love marriage 15 years ago and had two children.

K B Gupta was interrogated after police found his statements to be contradictory, however, he has not yet confessed, sources said. He had told the police that Ruchita was the first one to leave the home for her coaching classes while the children said their mother had seen them off to school. The records from the coaching institute too found Ruchita didn’t attend classes that day. The police is yet to find the murder weapon and Ruchita’s mobile phone that has been missing since the incident.

Cops are also awaiting for the mobile call records. The autopsy was conducted on Friday morning and Ruchita’s parents took her body to Ajmer for cremation. According to the neighbours, the husband was an alcoholic and the couple indulged in frequent fights due to his impulsive behaviour. Ruchita had even filed a complaint of violence against him at the Sukher police station last year. She was a practising lawyer and preparing for the judicial services examination while

had left his job with a fertilizers company two months ago to pursue studies in law and chartered accountancy. Though, he didn’t earn much, however he maintained two cars and had a lavish lifestyle that raised suspicions against him. Their children went to an expensive private school. Ruchita’s family members too said that their daughter was ill treated by her husband. He had sold off their own flat in the same apartment some time back and were living in a rented one on the 7th floor. There was blood stains all over the rooms and walls inside the flat. Presumably, the victim had struggled hard to save her life. The killer had tried to wash off the stains in the wash basin and bathroom. Police has found blood stains in the deeper side of the nails and foot of the victim’s husband.
