KOTA: Three more persons involved in
honeytrap gang
that extorted money from businessmen while threatening to file false rape cases against them were on Friday sent to jail on court orders.
Three women have already been arrested in the matter and are currently in judicial custody. Kota police has so far arrested six persons, including three women, of the
honeytrap
gang.
The three accused identified as
Mahendra Singh
alias Chacha, a resident of Rangpur Road, Firoj Khan of Sajedhera area and Shanu alias Salim of Kotri area of the city were arrested two days ago in connection with honeytrap gang operative in Kota city, said sub-inspector and investigating officer in the case Amar Nath at Nayapura police station of the city.
Police produced them in the court that sent them to two-day police remand. Following the completion of police remand period, the three were on Friday again produced before the court that ordered to send them to jail. The three arrests were made following the disclosure of their names during the police remand by Urena alias Sweta Sharma (26), the kingpin of the gang, he further added.
Besides Sweta Sharma and Naajmeen (20) and
Puja Hada
(20), residents of Anantpura area, are currently in judicial custody.
The gang used to contact top businessmen of the city on the pretext of providing them employment at their firms and then attempt to extort money by threatening to file rape cases against them, the SI said.
The gang was busted after a leading businessman of the city
Ashok Lala
on last Friday lodged a case with the police and alleged a girl named Puja Hada had been calling him for last 7-8 days demanding a job at his firm. Naajmeen also contacted the businessman on phone and requested for a job, he said.
