JAIPUR: Established medical colleges in Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner are the top choices for MBBS aspirants, as per the list of medical colleges with available seats after completion of round 1 of NEET counseling and admissions. This list was released by the chairman’s office for NEET-UG medical and dental admissions at SMS Medical College.
In Kota medical college, only 35 out of 194 govt seats are available for round 2 of admissions. Similarly, in Ajmer, 21 out of 193 govt seats are left, while in Udaipur, 18 out of 194 govt seats are available. SMS medical college in Jaipur has filled all but 11 out of its 209 govt seats. Jodhpur and Bikaner medical colleges have 22 and 21 vacant seats, respectively, out of their 208 seats.
At the beginning of NEET counseling, there were 5,204 MBBS seats available in Rajasthan across all categories, including govt quota, NRI reserved seats, and management seats. After the completion of round 1, 2,285 seats remain available for round 2 of NEET counseling and admissions.
Out of the 2,071 govt seats available in round 1, 534 seats remain for round 2. Among these 534 seats, 128 are available in the six established medical colleges, while the rest are available in medical colleges operating under Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES), which was formed by the state govt.
According to a medical education department official, top-ranking NEET students prefer the established medical colleges due to their well-established reputation. However, the new medical colleges are also attracting aspirants.

UP Boosts Medical Education with 600 New MBBS Seats Across Five New Colleges
The Union Health Ministry has approved the introduction of MBBS programs at five new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh and increased seat capacity at two existing ones. This creates an additional 600 MBBS seats, bringing the total to 1,200 for the academic session 2024-25. The approval came after appeals by college principals and intervention from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
