Scooter crash near Pakistan border reveals 27 packets of heroin worth Rs 70 crore
JAISALMER: Pugal police of Bikaner district recovered 14kg heroin from the scooty belonging to a man found injured and unconscious on the road Tuesday.According to police, the youth was found on the main road, about 7km from Pugal towards Khajuwala. After receiving information, police reached the spot and took him to hospital. The scooter was brought to the police station as part of what was initially treated as a road accident case.Pugal SHO Samarveer Singh said that during a search of the scooter at the police station, a yellow-coloured packet was found in the dickey. The packet contained three packets, inside which heroin was packed in 27 separate small packets. The total weight was 14kg, and police estimated its international market value at Rs 70 crore. The injured youth was identified as Khetaram (22), a resident of Pali district. Police said he left Khajuwala early morning and met with an accident in the Pugal area after colliding with a stray animal. He was first taken to Pugal Hospital and later referred to PBM Hospital in Bikaner, where he was undergoing treatment.Police said the recovery was being examined for possible links to a drone-based dropping from across the border. Inputs about a heroin dropping in the border area emerged on the night of April 20-21.
