JAIPUR: Water supply in Dholpur has been affected for the past two to three days following incessant rainfall. Officials of the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) stated that this is because there was a problem with power supply of the Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) in Dholpur and PHED could not operate the pumps.

“Situation had started getting normal from Tuesday afternoon and we had resumed the supply again. Normalcy would restore from Wednesday,” said Harikrishan Agarwal, the PHED engineer based in Dholpur. There had been incessant rainfall in Dholpur since Saturday and on Sunday Dholpur recorded a maximum rainfall of more than 23 cm. As a result of this the JVVNL campus in Dholpur got submerged and there were issues with power supply in the region.

“We had local facilities like handpumps in almost every locality in Dholpur. Since there was heavy rainfall, water consumption was not that high,” added Agarwal.
