Heat wave claims life of beggar in Kota
“The deceased was identified as Mahendra Kushwah, resident of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh,” said SHO at Bhimganj Mandi police station, Ramkishan Godara, on Monday. He said Kushwah had been living in Kota for many years and was dependent on begging for livelihood.
Pilani recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state on Monday at 46.6°C, the Met office said. Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 44.2°C. Scattered rainfall was witnessed in the afternoon in and around Jaipur which gave some relief from the searing heat. On Sunday Jaipur had recorded maximum temperature of 45.9°C.
The Met office said that due to active western disturbances and upper air cyclonic circulation, there is possibility of mild showers and dust storm on Tuesday in parts of the state. The Met office added that in the coming days, heavy dust storm, mild showers and lightning would occur at some places in southern and western Rajasthan. However, the mercury will again take an upward swing from Wednesday. “The last week of May will witness consecutive days of severe heat wave, with some places likely to touch maximum temperature of 48°C to 49°C,” said a Met department officer. Pilani was followed by Barmer with a maximum temperature of 46.1°C recorded, and Phalodi next with 46°C.
