HC summons ex-SP, SHO over false FIR

Jodhpur: Jodhpur bench of Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday summoned the former SP of Barmer and former SHO of Kotwali station after concluding that they filed a false FIR against a history-sheeter, accusing him of hitting the official vehicle of the Barmer SP and fleeingHC's summons to the two officials asked them to explain why criminal proceedings should not be initiated against them for filing the false FIR. The court directed them to appear at the case's next hearing on Jan 28.Justice Farzand Ali, based on evidence submitted, concluded that the SP's vehicle and the history-sheeter's Scorpio did not collide and termed the case an act of fabricating evidence."In light of this evidence, the submission of the defence is that a patently false case has been foisted against the petitioner, out of a personal grudge and by misusing the authority," the judge said.The petitioner's lawyer, Dhirendra Singh, said that according to the FIR, some miscreants in a Scorpio abducted a youth in front of the govt hospital in Barmer on March 28. "During search operation, the SP spotted a black, numberless Scorpio near Chohatan intersection in the city. An attempt was made to intercept the vehicle, but the driver, Shailendra Singh Rajput, allegedly rammed the SP's vehicle with the intent to kill the officer, driver and the gunman and fled," said Singh, quoting from the FIR.Singh said that investigation revealed that Rajput had no connection with the kidnapping incident."After reviewing the video footage and photographs, the court concluded that no collision had occurred between the two vehicles and observed that the case appears to involve the fabrication of false evidence," Singh said.
