HC stays appointment of motor vehicle sub-inspectors

Jaipur: The high court stayed appointments of motor vehicle sub-inspectors, as only diploma holders were considered for the post, ignoring higher qualified engineering degree holders. A single bench of the court had earlier said that only diploma holders or equivalent could apply for the post. This order was challenged in the division bench by automobile/mechanical engineers. The petitioners said that though the single bench had recorded in its ruling that mechanical and automobile engineering is a higher qualification, the order was misinterpreted and wrong conclusions were drawn at the staff selection board on 'equivalent qualification'. They said the board had ignored the order of the joint secretary transport department wherein it was clearly mentioned that higher qualified engineering graduates are eligible for the post.The court ordered that it is necessary to protect the interests of all parties and the court will conduct the final hearing of the case in the second week of July till the recruitment has stayed.
