HC denies relief to Pramod Sharma in land dispute case
Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court refused to grant relief to Pramod Sharma, alleged to have links with influential political circles, dismissing his petition seeking quashing of an FIR against him. With the plea rejected, the possibility of his arrest has increased, while the police investigation is expected to continue.
The Rajasthan High Court has dismissed a petition by Pramod Sharma seeking quashing of an FIR against him, clearing the way for continued police investigation and raising the likelihood of his arrest. He allegedly has links with influential political circles.
The order was passed by the single bench of Justice Umashankar Vyas while dismissing Sharma’s criminal miscellaneous petition filed under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The petition sought quashing of FIR No. 586/2025 dated July 13, 2025, registered at Mansarovar police station in Jaipur City South for offences under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the petition, Sharma claimed that he was falsely implicated and had no connection with either Pathik Housing Cooperative Society or Navjeevan Housing Cooperative Society, around whose land dispute the matter revolves. He further argued that the FIR was delayed, vague and did not assign him any specific role in the alleged offences.
The plea also contended that the dispute was essentially civil in nature, involving competing claims over land situated at Badarwas village in Sanganer, Jaipur, and that criminal proceedings were being misused to give a civil matter a criminal colour. However, the high court declined to interfere at this stage and dismissed the petition.
Opposing the plea, senior advocate Madhav Mitra, along with advocate Girraj Prasad Sharma, submitted that although police initially proposed a final report, the complainant approached senior officers seeking further probe.
“After fresh investigation, police found substantial role of the accused and served him notice to appear. However, he is absconding and has now filed this petition,” Mitra argued before the court. “He is accused of criminal trespass and land grabbing, and police have substantial evidence against him.
