JAIPUR : The
Rajasthan High Court on Monday appointed former President of Rajasthan High Court Bar Association R B Mathur as an observer for the elections of the mangement committee of SSG Pareek P G College and allied institutions in the state capital. Mathur has also been directed to submit his report before the high court.
The college and the five other institutions are among the oldest private colleges and schools in the state.
The interim order came on a writ petition filed by Nawal Kishore and others who are member of Pareek Samaj. It was argued by senior advocate A K Sharma along with advocate Abhinav Sharma, appearing on behalf of petitioners that the tenure of the present managing committee has expired last year but despite the mandatory requirement under the law, the elections were not held for constitution of fresh managing committee.
It was also brought to the notice of Justice Prem Shanker Asopa that the previous managing committee was illegally holding the office and the state government exercising its power under Section 10 of Rajasthan Non-Government Educational Institutions Act, appointed an administrator to conduct the elections on May 5.
"There were complaints against the election officer and that the free and fair election would not be possible under the present election officer. The court, as an interim measure, allowed the elections to be held for the time being to form an interim mangaing committee and the question as to whether all the six recognized institutions should have separate managing committee will be dealt with on June 30," said Abhinav Sharma, counsel for petitioners.
