"There was a huge gathering of people in the locality, but no untoward incident happened as peace committees at local level were already been activated by us," said commissioner of police BL Soni.
Nearly 400 members including members of Singh's family, BJP workers and supporters demanded an ex-gratia and a government job for the kin of his family. MLA Pratap Singh Kachariawas also met the victim's family and offered his condolences. Some accused the state government and the police of protecting the actual culprits behind the incident.
Jeetendra Singh (38) had reportedly entered into a scuffle with some youths of a community after which he succumbed to injuries in the hospital and it triggered tension in the locality. Already eight youths were arrested in this connection.
