JAIPUR: A day after Class X RBSE took its toll on two students, an 18-year-old committed suicide in the city on Sunday. The police claim she took the extreme step after she flunked in her B.Com (first year) exam, results of which were declared on Thursday.
The girl, Priyanka Sehgal consumed poison at her residence at Vishnu Garden in Sanganer. She was rushed to the SMS Hospital, but died during treatment, the police said.
"Priyanka had failed in the exam, and was seen depressed," police said. On Friday, she was found unconscious by her family at the house, following which she was rushed to the hospital.
"After battling for life for two days, she died on Sunday,"the officer said. The body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
In a separate incident, 27-year-old LLB final year student, Sidharth Singh, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his house in the Sodala area. The police have however, ruled out the possibility of a suicide.
Sidharth had appeared for LLB final year exam on Saturday. "He did not wake up till 10 am on Sunday, following which the family members went into his room. They found him unconscious. He was rushed to a private hospital in the area, and later to the SMS Hospital where doctors declared him dead," a police officer said.
The police said no injury marks were found on the body. The doctors have not confirmed if he had consumed poison.
"Viscera samples have been sent for forensic examination," an officer said.
