Jaipur: Police investigation into the severed head of a cow calf found hanging in a cattle shed in Ashokpura under Shyam Nagar police station limits has come under scrutiny after Hingoniya Gaushala issued a statement disputing key elements of the police's initial version.
Hingoniya Gaushala, run by Shri Krishna Balram Seva Trust, Wednesday said no dead calf from the Shyam Nagar area was brought to the facility by Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Feb 8. The trust said it contacted JMC's animal management wing, which confirmed that no information about a dead calf was received at the JMC control room and that no municipal team lifted any carcass from the area. The trust said that without any lifting or transport, there was no possibility of a dead calf reaching Hingoniya Gaushala.

Trust head Raghupati Das said the accused, Satyanarayan Sharma, was not present at the gaushala premises on the day of the incident and that the facility did not provide the head or remains of any dead calf to anyone. He said carcasses brought by JMC vehicles are recorded at Gate No 5 and disposed of directly in designated pits, with the gaushala's role limited to sprinkling salt and covering the pit with soil. Das said the Gaushala has no role in the collection, transport, identification, or origin of dead cattle.
Shyam Nagar SHO Dalbir Singh said the facts presented earlier to him were based on statements recorded during the initial investigation
Former minister and Congress member Pratap Singh Khachariyawas alleged the BJP-led govt was trying to suppress the matter.
