Gang of thieves busted, 9 held

The Harmara police busted an interstate gang of thieves and arrested nine persons, including two buyers of stolen items.

JAIPUR: The Harmara police busted an interstate gang of thieves and arrested nine persons, including two buyers of stolen items. The gang had committed more than two dozen burglaries. The thieves mostly stole power transformers.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Lalaram alias Mota (25), Rampratap Yadav (25), Kailash Chandra (21), Babulal Mali (30), Shekhar Chandra Negi (28), Bhupendra Singh (20), Jitendra Jatav (22), Babulal Pathan (27) and Bhanwar Singh (35).

They belong to Uttaranchal and Jaipur and Bharatpur districts in Rajasthan. Bhanwar Singh and Babulal have been arrested for buying stolen items, while others were in police net for committing thefts.
"The gang was active since 2007. All those arrested are expert in separating a transformer from an electricity pole. They used to take out bronze from the transformers and sell them. They would first watch the place in the day and steal the transformers at night," says circle officer of the Vishwakarma area Ram Swaroop.
Besides some transformers and other electric items, the police have recovered some vehicles from their possession. The police are interrogating them.
The accused will be produced in the court on Friday. "We hope to obtain leads to other cases from their interrogation," the CO said.
