Four held, but no trace of kidnapped bride in Sikar

JAIPUR: It is a race against the time for the

police as several outfits intensified the protest after a 21-year-old bride was allegedly kidnapped by accused on Wednesday.

Karni Sena and Rajput Sabha Bhavan asked police to quickly track down the accused and recover the bride. Several leaders met and spoke to the district SP Dr. Amandeep Kapoor Singh. Meanwhile, the police said that all the accused were known to the bride’s family as many of them were from the same and nearby village.

Kapoor said that four accused have been arrested so far and one detained. The special surveillance units of the Sikar police are coordinating to track down the bride Hansa Kanawar. DGP Kapil Garg said that the case is under investigation and the police have strained every nerve to find the bride. According to the kidnapped FIR registered at Dhod police station, about eight men followed the baraat from the marriage garden in Nagwa, at 2.30am near a bus stand in Rambaxpura, the accused travelling in a Bolero and Camper vehicle waylaid the SUV in which newly-wed Hansa Kanwar was travelling with her husband. "The accused attacked the SUV in which Hansa was accompanied by her husband, sister and brother-in-law. The accused attacked the car with sticks and destroyed it, two accused then forcefully took away Hansa and pushed her into their car," said ASI Banshi Dhar.

Police said all the accused were heavily armed with sticks, iron rods and sharp weapons. and that relatives suspect role of local youths in the crime.
