KOTA: The body of a 30-year-old forest guard was recovered from a rivulet filled with rainwater in Dablana police station area of Bundi district on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Lokesh Gurjar, and his friend, Moti, were swept away while crossing a bridge over the overflowing rivulet on a motorbike late on Sunday evening.

Moti managed to save himself by clutching the tree branches and came out of the water safe.

Gurjar was posted at the forest check post at Dara Ka Naya Gaun village in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve area in Bundi district’s Dablana police station area.

“The bridge over the rivulet near Dara Ka Naya Gaun village was overflowing minutes after a spell of heavy rain on Sunday evening. The two men and their bike were swept away by the floodwater over the bridge,” said Dablana police station SHO Rameshwar Choudhary. After receiving information of the incident, police and wildlife staff rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation in coordination with a civil defence team, but the forest guard could not be traced till late on Sunday night. The bike was recovered around 100 metres away from the spot.

The forest guard’s body was recovered around 3 km off the bridge during the rescue operation on Monday morning.
