FIR against Cong MLA Indira Meena over alleged assault on BJP man

Jaipur: The Bonli police station in Sawai Madhopur Tuesday filed an FIR against Congress MLA Indira Meena and five others for allegedly assaulting BJP Mandal president Hanuman Dixit.According to Dixit's complaint, Meena and her group of 20 to 25 supporters ambushed him while he was returning from the residence of local BJP functionary Krishna Poswal on April 13. He said they surrounded his vehicle, subjected him to 'indecent behaviour', and physically assaulted him, making attempts on his life.A video of the incident surfaced on April 14 and showed Meena holding Dixit by the shoulders while he sat in his vehicle. Local BJP leaders met at Kherapati Balaji Temple in Bonli Town Tuesday in response to the alleged assault and resolved to file a complaint against the Congress MLA.Sources said Meena and Dixit confronted each other over the unveiling of a statue of BR Ambedkar in Bonli Town on the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti. Meena claimed her supporters funded the statue, while Dixit and BJP workers sought to claim credit. She alleged BJP functionaries attempted to take control of the event and remove her name from the plaque.Meena on Tuesday announced plans to escalate the matter to senior Congress officials at state and national levels, seeking collective action against what she described as 'injustice perpetrated by the BJP'. She also alleged the BJP-led state govt endangered her safety by withdrawing her personal security cover on April 3, claiming two personal security officers from her security cordon were withdrawn, leaving her exposed to potential threats."If anything happens to me, the Bhajan Lal Sharma govt will be directly responsible," she said. An outspoken critic of BJP inside and outside the state assembly, Meena, after her assembly poll victory in 2018 and subsequent re-election in 2023, was allocated personal security. The Congress MLA said she would file a formal complaint in this regard with the state home minister Wednesday.
