JAIPUR: A 6-year-old child and a 25-year-old woman were killed while one living in the neighbourhood was injured in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit. The incident occurred in Chawani village of Dholpur district. Police said that the unit was illegal and it had not been given permission to manufacture firecrackers.
According to police, the incident took place at the house of the accused identified as Gulzaar (35) while he was preparing some firecrackers.
"He had left a good amount of explosives to dry up in open air area in his house. Suddenly it caught fire and exploded in which a child identified as Nasir was killed. The explosion was so massive that two people living in the neighboring house, Aasma and her daughter Ria (7) were injured seriously. Aasma later succumbed to her injuries," said a senior police officer.
Primary investigation suggested that the firecracker manufacturing unit was illegal. "The accused Gulzaar managed to flee," said a senior police officer.
