Jaipur: The state’s election department, in its effort to make the functioning of the department eco-friendly, has prepared a long-term action plan under which e-mails and digital media will be used for official correspondence with officers of the department and other departments, said state’s chief electoral officer (CEO)

The short-term plan for making the department eco-friendly will begin on the
World Environment Day (June 5).
Under the plan, solar panels will be installed at all the EVM-VVPAT warehouses. “Optimum use of social media platforms like WhatsApp, YouTube,
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and telegram will be done for awareness campaigns regarding elections. Use of all kinds of plastic flags, plastic/PVC banners for election awareness will be minimised and limited,’ the action plan stated. “Use of eco-friendly cloth/paper will be used for packaging material in the election process,” it added. On World Environment Day, plantation drives will be carried out at CEO office, warehouses, polling booths, offices of district electoral officers/returning officers. The officials will participate in the ‘Run for Environment’ programme. tnn
