Drug overdose likely cause of death of 2 Bikaner men
Jaipur: A day after two decomposed bodies were recovered from a house in Bikaner town, the police said Sunday that one of the deceased was working as a male nurse at the govt-run PBM Hospital in Bikaner, while the other was his friend. Both are suspected to have died of a drug overdose as several liquor bottles and syringes were found lying in the house. The bodies were decomposed beyond identification, and going by their condition, the police suspect that they might have been lying in the house for the past six to seven days.Police later identified the deceased as Dharmendra Tanvar, a nursing staff member at PBM Hospital, and his friend, Pramod Kumar Sharma. Pramod's body was found lying on a sofa, while Dharmendra's was on the floor."Syringes and empty liquor bottles were scattered across the room, following which we suspect that both men may have died from a drug overdose. A forensic team and dog squad were also called in for further examination of the scene," said Add SP Bikaner Saurabh Tiwari.A foul smell coming from the house alerted children playing nearby, who informed their families. Neighbours then contacted the police. When officers arrived, they found the main door locked from inside. They entered the house through the back door and discovered the bodies in different parts of the living room.According to police, Dharmendra previously lived in Delhi but moved to Bikaner after securing the job at PBM Hospital. Over time, he became addicted to drugs, which led to his wife and children leaving him. His friend Pramod, who remained unmarried and also struggled with substance abuse, often visited him. The two frequently used drugs together at Dharmendra's residence in Sector Number 2.Their families later confirmed their identities, after which the bodies were sent to PBM Hospital for postmortem. Based on the level of decomposition, police believe the two may have been dead for nearly a week before being discovered.
