Deeg firing: Bandh in two towns
JAIPUR: Police are still investigating Thursday’s firing and vandalism at Laxmi Vilas Hotel, Deeg in Bharatpur. The former MP and ex-royal scion of Bharatpur Vishvendra Singh and his supporters have called for an ‘all-community panchayat’ at Kumher on Monday.
Bharatpur and Deeg towns witnessed a bandh on Friday in protest against the firing in which Vishvendra and his wife Divya Singh had a narrow escape whereas seven of their supporters were injuried.

As per medical reports on Friday, two of Vishvendra supporters — Rajvir and Vinod — had suffered bullet injuries and others were injured in the commotion that was followed the firing.
“Medical reports have confirmed gunshot injuries of two individuals. We have set up a three- member committee and the case will be pursued as per its findings,” said Sunil Dutt, DIG, Bharatpur range. He said that bandh on Friday was peaceful as no untoward incident was reported. Dutt said police are investigating what gun was used and distance from where the shot was fired. However, reports suggest that Vishvendra supporters beat up one Vedprakash, who was trying to play the peacemaker and convince the two groups to end the fight.
On Thursday, Vishvendra and his supporters were protesting against the circulation of the book--Rajvansh Bharatpur--authored by Raghuraj Singh at Laxmi Vilas hotel that is a residence-cum-hotel of the latter. Vishvendra has maintained that the book has descriptions about the Bharatpur royal family which are factually incorrect and denigrated the contributions made by the family for the common people.
On the other hand, Raghuraj Singh claimed that he himself belongs to the Bharatpur royal family and his book was based on extensive research and documentary evidence. Raghuraj has also maintained there was nothing derogatory against the royal family.
