Day after stir, JDA begins road repairs at Sanganer

Jaipur: A day after a group of residents of the Sanganer constituency protested at the headquarters of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), the civic body has decided to restore the conditions of roads as demanded by the protesters.On Tuesday morning, a team from JDA had reached the neighbourhood and started the restoration work. “On Monday morning, we had spotted a team of JDA in the localities. They had started working to restore the conditions of the road. Hopefully, all the roads of the localities affected would get a revamp,” said Arun Sharma, the chairman of Jaipur Municipal Corporation (Greater) and the councillor of ward number 104 of the civic body.On Monday, a group of around 500 residents of the Sanganer constituency of Jaipur, led by Sharma, had organized a protest at the JDA office. The protestors alleged that they are a leading a harrowing time as, for the last 15 years, JDA has built no roads and drainage in their colonies. Residents of at least seven colonies located on both sides of the Tonk Road - Kalyan Nagar, Nagiri Nagar, Ram Mandir, Mathur Vaishya Nagar, Printer’s Nagar, Shyam Colony and Prahlad Nagar – are the worst sufferers.“In all, there are around 10,000 residents in these localities. Despite several requests in the last four years JDA has turned a blind eye to the problems of these residents. Primarily because the MLA of the constituency is from BJP,” alleged Sharma. JDA officials had assured that they would recarpet a few of the roads. Rest of the roads, as demanded by the residents, would be repaired. TNN
