Cops detain suspects in murder of Diggi priest

Jaipur: A day after the murder of 93-year-old priest Mahant Siyaram Das Maharaj at Bhuriya Mahadev Baba Dham in Diggi town of Tonk district, police detained several suspects on Thursday.
The priest was living alone on the temple premises and was struck on the head with an iron rod and sticks. A senior police officer said, “The matter has been investigated, and we have detained 8-10 people.”
Sources mentioned that there is a possibility that thieves killed the mahant for money. “There was a theft at the Mahant’s residence around eight months ago in which Rs 3 lakh was stolen,” said a source.
Baba Balak Nath Yogi, MP from Alwar and state vice-president of BJP, will be visiting Diggi on Friday. TNN
