According to sources, Sher Aslam Khan was a medium scale civil contractor and took mostly repair work from the Nagar Palika of Dedwana. “He was struggling to establish himself and, therefore, took loan from different sources including his relatives,” said Mohammad Asif Khan, relative of the deceased.
The body of Aslam Khan was found hanging from the roof of the room constructed on his field and police also found a suicide note from his possession, “We are matching the handwriting of the note with that of the deceased,” added police officials. According to police, the suicide note stated that Aslam was struggling to get his bill passed from the Nagar Palika but Assist Engr Bhola Ram Saini was demanding Rs 2 lakh to pass his work. “Aslam had repaired the roads and some sewerage system of the town and was waiting for the payment from Nagar Palika since last three months,” the relative said.
The suicide note alleged that when Alsam offered fifty thousand rupees to Bhola Ram Saini he denied and said that without two lakh rupees he was not going to sanction his work, without which the Palika will not pass his bill. “I have tried everything to get my payment but because of Assist Engr Bhola Ram I was in heavy debt and the corruption in government department force me to commit suicide,” read the suicide note. When the suicide note was revealed there was anger in the relatives of the deceased and when officials reached on the spot they staged heavy protest. “We are looking into the matter, a case of suicide has been registered and we are also considering the suicide note as evidence and investigating it,” said Nagaur police.
