JAIPUR: Chief minister
Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced to hold a peace march on December 22 from Albert Hall to Gandhi Circle to protest against devaluation of the constitutional institutions by the Modi government on Friday.
“They are talking about implementing NRC across the country which is not practical. We have seen how NRC backfired in Assam after spending Rs 1,600 crore and under the monitoring of Supreme Court.
Even the BJP government in Assam is not accepting the NRC speaks volumes about the intention of BJP,” said Gehlot.
He charged home minister
Amit Shah of provoking citizens by his divisive statements repeatedly. “He (Shah) is acting like a dictator by stating that he will repeatedly implement NRC in the country,” said Gehlot. The march will begin at 11am. Details of who all will join is not available but sources said that the peace march will be in response to the BJPs rally held in Jaipur on Friday.
Meanwhile, Muslim groups under the banner of Desh and Samvidhan Bachao Morcha will held a protest on December 22 at Moti Doongri Road. In a presser, the protest coordinator, Naim Rabbani said, “The protest is an expression of our rejection to CAA supplemented by NRC. The Morcha welcomes central government move to grant citizenship to the persecuted minorities but they have failed to give any reasoning in excluding Muslims from the act.”
