Civic bodies take stock of disaster relief preparations
Jaipur: Preparing for the impact of cyclone Biparjoy on the city, JMC Greater and JMC Heritage administration on Friday conducted review meetings to take stock of disaster relief preparations.JMC Greater has issued a helpline number 0141 2742181 for emergency situations due to heavy rain alerts, while the emergency numbers for JMC Heritage are 0141-2607500, 0141-2201898. In JMC Greater, residents can also inform about any emergency on Citizen Helpline Number-0141-2747400 and Control Room Vigilance Number-0141-2742900.JMC Greater mayor Somya Gurjar and commissioner Mahendra Soni, while reviewing the preparations to deal with cyclonic storm Biparjoy, instructed officials to make adequate arrangements for necessary resources. Instructions have also been given to deputy commissioner horticulture, deputy commissioner garage, deputy commissioner health, chief fire officer to remain on alert. The mayor also took zone-wise progress report of sewer and drain cleaning and directed the concerned executive engineers to speed up the work and remove the debris immediately. She also asked officials to number sewer chambers so that those chambers where there are more problems can be identified. Officials took updates about zone-wise preparations for storm related warnings and measures to be taken. Rajendra Verma, additional commissioner JMC Heritage instructed deputy commissioner health and garage to ensure that adequate number of workers, earthen carts, tractor-trolleys, mud pumps etc. are in working condition and the JCB at flood control centers near Banipark fire station, Dhatgate and Amer are functional. Officials also said that suction machines, jetting machines should be made available immediately if required and instructions were given to make adequate arrangements for rainwater drainage.In JMC Heritage, two mud pumps are available at Banipark, two at Dhatgate and one at Amer Fire Station. Officials have been instructed to keep ambulances ready to pick up dead and sick animals during rains. Officials said that 200 home guards ready and the leaves of all employees will be cancelled for the near future due to the alert for the cyclonic storm.Officials have also been instructed to identify waterlogged areas and community buildings where people in need can be shifted during emergency. Officials also said that flood control rooms must be established for effective monitoring and ensure daily updates to the district control room.
