Jaipur sees coldest March morning since 2015
It was followed by a comparatively chilly afternoon, when a maximum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius was recorded. Since no fog and mist was present in the morning, air, road and rail traffic was smooth from Jaipur.
Attributing the dip in mercury to the recent spell of rainfall and hailstorm and also to snowfall in the hilly regions of the country, the Met office in Jaipur said that in the coming days mercury was likely to take an upward swing.
Fatehpur was followed by Mount Abu where a minimum temperature of 4.1°C was recorded, Pilani 5°C, Sangariya 5.2°C, Jaisalmer 6.5°C, Sikar 6.6°C, Alwar 6.8°C, Sirohi 7.8°C, Vanasthali 8°C, Karauli 8.3°C, Bhilwara 8.8°C, Barmer 9°C, Udaipur 9.2°C, Jalore 9.3°C, Anta (Baran) 9.4°C, and 11.1°C in Jodhpur.
The Met office further stated that gradual rise in temperatures will start from Tuesday.
Asked about the forecast for the month of March, an officer at the Met office said, “In the month of March a few more spells of western disturbances will occur which will bring hailstorm, rainfall, lightning and dust storms. Still, in between, the mercury will continue to be on an upward swing.”
Sub 30 degree day temperature recorded in Mumbai
Mumbai experienced a significant weather shift, with a drop in day temperatures. Maximum temperature reached 28.8 degrees Celsius, contrasting with 37.2 degrees Celsius two days prior. Minimum temperatures were 24.4 degrees. Weathermen forecasted a further dip in night temperatures on Monday.
Western disturbances bring hailstorm & rainfall in Rajasthan
Some places in Rajasthan witnessed mild showers and hailstorms due to western disturbances and upper air cyclonic circulation. Chhatargarh (Bikaner) received the highest rainfall. Karauli was the coldest place. From March 1, fresh western disturbances are likely to bring hailstorm, rainfall, and dust storms.
India's weather office forecasts above-average temperatures for March
India is likely to experience above normal minimum temperatures in March, raising concerns about the country's critical wheat crop. The north-western parts of the country could receive above-normal rainfall. Temperatures are expected to rise above normal in the second half of March.
