JAIPUR: A child aged two-and-a-half years was kidnapped from his Durgapura situated house on Sunday evening allegedly by his former tenant. The police on Monday recovered the child from Hindaun city in Karauli. The accused is absconding.
According to police, the accused Pawan Sharma (28) came at the house of the child. Since he was known to the family he urged to take the kid out to buy him sweets.
"When till evening, Sharma did not return, the family contacted us. After which we tracked the mobile of the accused. The phone was traced at various places including Mathura and Hindaun city," said Amandeep Singh Kapoor, deputy commissioner of police (east) on Monday.
After tracing the location of the mobile phone a police team was sent to Hindaun city. "The child was recovered from a house. However, the accused was not found at the place," Kapoor said.
The way child was recovered and the accused could not be arrested shows some lacuna from the police side. Asked if the parents have paid some ransom, Kapoor, said, "No such thing has taken place. Our men are after the accused and he would be arrested soon," he added.
However, the so far investigations suggested that the accused Pawan Sharma allegedly had illicit relationship with the mother of the child. "The preliminary investigations said that he came to house and believed that it was his son as he had a relationship with the mother of the child thus he took the child along with him. The clear picture will come after the accused would be arrested," said a senior police officer.
