Cabinet nod to 4 JVs in energy sector

Jaipur: The cabinet on Saturday approved establishment of four joint ventures in the energy sector at an investment of Rs 1.34 lakh crore. In addition, metro projects will be developed and operated through a joint venture company.State employees and pensioners who have private medical insurance in addition to RGHS will now receive claim payments as per the provisions of the central govt/CGHS, the cabinet decided. The medical insurance company will first settle the claim, and the remaining amount will be settled under RGHS.If the posts of professor and associate professor remain vacant in new super-specialty and sub-specialty departments started on or after April 1, 2020, in govt medical colleges, they will be filled through special recruitment. Deputy CM Premchand Bairwa said that as per the Metro Rail Policy 2017, the proposal for forming a joint venture (JV) company between the Centre and the state govt has been approved. This JV will focus on the development, operation, and implementation of ongoing and future metro rail projects in Rajasthan.Industries minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said it is aimed to make the state self-sufficient in energy production by 2027. He blamed the previous Cong govt for putting the state under the burden of losses worth Rs 1.30 lakh crore in the power sector.Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said the cabinet has approved the proposals for forming joint venture companies with different central PSUs. The state govt’s companies will hold a 26% stake, while the central PSUs will hold a 74% stake in these JVs.Rathore said two separate JVs will be established between Coal India Limited and RVUNL, one for a thermal project and another for a renewable energy project. The first project will involve setting up an 800 MW unit at the Kalisindh Thermal Project in Jhalawar or another pithead greenfield coal project. The second JV will establish solar, pump storage, and wind energy projects with a capacity of 2,000-2,500 MW, resulting in an investment of Rs 17,200 to Rs 24,400 crore in the state.Rathore said a joint venture will be formed between NTPC Green Energy and RVUNL to establish renewable energy projects. This venture will set up 25,000 MW of solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects, attracting an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in the state. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and Rajasthan Power Transmission Corporation will establish a joint venture company to set up power transmission projects. The cabinet cleared the path for 2,827 recruitments in Sanskrit education and the renaming of physical education instructors.
